Recently, across my desk came this jewel of a book. As my readers know, I love the Wizard of Oz. It is the most dearly held book and movie in my life. I recently had begun to think about the spiritual qualities that could be found in the story of Oz and even the parallels I have found in my own life with the wisdom contained in this seemingly simple fairy tale.

I was then contacted by a friend who also has an Oz Web site, *Jim Whitcomb, about a new page that he had added to his site about the spiritual aspects of Oz and many of the great books that have been published on this subject. I was hooked as it contained all I had thought about and then some. Then came Ilene Kimsey's book, which I have read and am now writing about.

The joy in this book is obvious. This though is not a casual book. To really "get" this book it takes your participation. Some things in life seem obvious but on a close examination this book is thought dense. Ilene has taken the story of the Wizard of Oz and shown for all that care to see the wisdom to profoundly improve our love of self, others, and our world. To become whole, and internally peaceful which as we know is a life long quest. This is the book you leave on your nightstand and before retiring you pick it up several times a week to reread certain chapters of gems of thought.

So often, and sadly so, many people go through life with a tattered map of sorts to find their way through life. Well, Ilene has written a workable map that teaches, or not so much teaches, but provides information that makes our lives better in every sense.

These are not just platitudes that you read and say, oh yes, that would be nice but when push comes to shove it is not very realistic. This book can cause a life changing experience. It makes statements that have you asking yourself important questions. Do you give unconditional love, do you take the time for thought, are you honest in your appraisal of self, are you responsible for the outcome of your life, do you know how to be quiet inside, do you know how to live in the here and now? These are just a few of the questions this book can provide valid answers for.

If you love Oz and it's message, if you want your mind and heart to grow and if you have the courage of discovery, take this book home and you'll never see Oz as just a pretty fairy tale again.
